VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - More than 150 firefighters from Virginia and Maryland are participating in a competition that tests their technical rescue skills.
The 2010 Technical Rescue Challenge kicked off Monday and will continue through Thursday. The Virginia Beach Fire Department is hosting the competition and 22 fire departments are participating.
The Virginia Beach department says the challenge course has eight scenarios. They include a rope rescue of a patient stuck on the cable trolley ride at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, and removal of an injured rock climber from the side of a cliff.
